Golden Glory Muay Thai in Pattaya

Formerly known as Scorpion Gym, Golden Glory Pattaya is centrally located, has two rings and the difference between it and many other gyms is it’s focus on one-on-one sessions rather than group classes.

There is also a shop onsite that sells Twins and Windy clothing and equipment.

Golden Glory Pattaya are a branch of the world famous kickboxing gym from Holland, Golden Glory.

History

Scorpion Gym opened in Pattaya in 2004. The camp was created by Dutch champion Rosalie Berghuis (Champion WMC, Champion Theprasit Stadium, 26 fights) and her husband Somphot Thotla (Lumpinee Champion, 300 fights). In 2007, Scorpion Gym was rebuilt with two big boxing rings, six punch bags and rooms. The main trainers were Somphot Thotla, Ekapon Junk (366 fights, World champion) and Jaroenwit (250 fights).

Professionals fighting out of Scorpion Gym were Yodchatpol (Champion Stadium Theprasit), Yodsankeang (Lumpinee Champion in Boxing), Numeechai (Radja champion) and Yodsenchai (Lumpinee Champion, World Champion). But what made Scorpion Gym famous was it’s owner, Rosalie Berguis, who gained many victories in Thailand.

However Rosalie Berguis is now a young mum and subsequently has decided to put her career on hold.

In March 2010, Bas Boon, the founder and one of the managers of Golden Glory in Holland, puchased Scorpion Gym and renamed it “Golden Glory Thailand”.

Pattaya represents an excellent location for Golden Gym fighters because they often fight K-1 tournaments in Japan, only a few hours away from Pattaya.

Heavyweight wrecking machine “The Demolition Man” Alistair Overeem trains at Golden Glory Pattaya often, so too does Errol Zimmerman and Gokhan Saki. Expect to see Semmy Schilt, Nicky Holtzken, Chalib Arrab, Ashwin Balrak and the rest of the Golden Glory team there too!

Long time trainer Jaroenwit continues to work the pads at Golden Glory, so too does Changpuek Kiatsongrit (9 times World Champion).

Golden Glory Gym is sure to gather alot of attention in the months and years ahead as it mixes Muay Thai technique with Dutch kickboxing talent and financial backing. Now Fairtex is not the only place in Pattaya where you can train with champions!
